A beautiful place to learn to ski and an idyllic spot for scenic alpine adventures year-round, Gippsland's Mt Baw Baw offers a complete escape from city life. Surrounded by national park and featuring over 30 hectares of skiing terrain, Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort is a great place to learn to ski or experience the snow. A range of fun snow activities are on offer, from alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing to tobogganing and snow play. The village has a friendly atmosphere as well as modern facilities, including affordable accommodation, ski hire, food outlets, medical and information centres. In spring and summer the colourful snow gear is swapped for vibrant wildflowers and fresh alpine air. The high country scenery of the Baw Baw National Park and the Thomson and Aberfeldy river valleys are stunning backdrops to the popular off-season activities of bushwalking, hiking, bike riding, rafting and abseiling. Mt Baw Baw is around 180 kilometres from Melbourne, or two-and-a-half hours by car along the M1.
