The seaside town of Old Bar is located 16 kilometres from Taree and has the closest beach to Taree. Old Bar's laid back, beachside lifestyle is its charm. Whether it's a stroll on the beach, sipping cappuccinos at the local cafe or surfing a wave, Old Bar is a beachside treasure. Old Bar village has a wide variety of retail outlets, ATM facilities, supermarket, tennis and squash courts, restaurants, cafes, a liquor store and a bowling club for meals and entertainment. Accommodation is available at nearby country retreats, self-contained cottages, cabins, a holiday park, beachside guesthouse, villas, units and a resort. The Old Bar Festival is an annual event held over the October long weekend celebrating Old Bar's unique heritage listed airstrip, its beach culture and a large gathering of Kombi vans.
