Peninsula Records and Books

Peninsula Records and Books is an independent record shop and bookshop in Stansbury, South Australia, on the east coast of the Yorke Peninsula. It is around two hours' drive from Adelaide, twenty minutes from Edithburgh, and a few minutes' walk from the Stansbury foreshore. The shop sells brand new vinyl records across every era, second-hand vinyl that has been cleaned and play-tested, and brand new books. The books are the latest fiction and non-fiction, current bestsellers, and picture books and board books for kids and babies. Australian authors and Australian artists sit front and centre rather than in a section at the back. There are also puzzles, games and gifts. Records and books under one roof is not a common combination on the Yorke Peninsula, and neither is an afterthought here. The shop is a converted stone garage on Weaver Street, run by Kate and Neil, who moved to Stansbury permanently and will happily talk to you about any of it. Second-hand vinyl is in-store only. New vinyl and books ship Australia-wide from the online store. Open Saturday to Tuesday, 10am to 3pm, including Mondays and Tuesdays when much of the peninsula is shut. Worth the detour.
