About This Service
Walking Trails
Lace up and discover Spear Creek on foot.
Two self guided walking trails take you beyond the campground and deep into the landscape, with history, geology and some incredible Southern Flinders Ranges scenery along the way.
Spear Creek Trail
5km | Approx. 2 hours | Relaxed
Follow the valley north into the ranges on the easier of our two walks. Along the way you’ll trace the historic cast iron water pipeline laid in 1865 to carry spring water from Woolundunga to Port Augusta, while discovering huge rock slides, historic caves and ancient stromatolites.
Deep Creek Trail
7km | Approx. 5 hours | Adventurous
Our longer and more challenging trail is well worth the extra effort. Wind your way through deep gorges lined with native cypress pines and climb into the Southern Flinders Ranges for spectacular views across the Upper Spencer Gulf.
At the top, stop for a picnic amongst the quartz rocks at Crystal Falls, one of our favourite spots on the station.
Walking maps are available from Reception.
